Is it possible to obtain the original transcript of a court case referenced in CHRONICLES OF THE Scots-Irish Settlement IN VIRGINIA? I've been chasing my female AMMON ancestor for some time and believe I have pieced together her siblings and father. A Chalkly abstract of a court case that took place after 1791 will confirm her mother's surname, but am stumped by Chalkly's use of the word "deposes". He notes that Elizabeth Ammon "deposes" and Mary Ammon "deposes". If I am correct about this family, both Elizabeth and Mary were under the age of 10 before 1800, so find it difficult to understand how they could give testimony. I'm hoping Chalkly either incorrectly used the word, or that the term was loosely applied in this time frame. Maggie Kyger Miller (loganholmes@aol.com)
