There is a road that runs in front of Daniel Harrison's house near the Rockingham Historical Society's site that is known as Bowman's Road. Does anyone know how long the road has been called that and what Bowmans it was named after? My ancestor Cornelius Bowman was married at the Cooks Creek Presbyeterian Church near there in 1764 and was probably a neighbour of Daniel Harrison. His parents lived on Linville Creek near the land where the Lincolns and Byrans lived. I don't know if Cornelius had any siblings other than a sister Deborah who was born in 1740. His parents Peter Bowman and Margaret Scholl Bowman were married in Readington NJ and later migrated to VA to live near Margaret's father Capt. Peter Scholl. By about 1772 Cornelius migrated to NC.
