Marg, In "The Bear Family Newsletter" dated May, 1999. It says there are 46 ways of spelling Baer, but the name is pronounced by all of them about the same way. Baer, Baar, Baare, Baear, Baehr, Baehre, Baehoar, Bahar, Bahor, Baere, Baiar, Baier, Bair, Baire, Bairr, Bare, Barr, Bayer, Bayeur, Bayor, Bayre, Beaher, Behar, Beher, Behr, Beier, Beir, Beirr, Bere, Beyar, Beyer, Biar, Biare, Bier, Bohaer, Byar, Byer, Byher, Byor. Now, in my line of Bear's I have only come across the name being spelled three different ways, Bär, Baer, and now Bear.
