I believe that Yancey was in Elkton by the Merck plant. >From 340 turn onto Captain Yancey Road. The old post office used to be there, as well as "Hill Top," which up until this year was a B&B Inn. Further down Captain Yancey Road, you will see River Bank, which is still there, along with other Yancey residents. The Yancey Post Office used to be located at "Hill Top," where they also had the Yancey school. If I can help further, please let me know. Julie K. I can't find it on the current maps but it DID exist in 1895 (it appears on a list of towns then and had a population of 22 as well as a post office but no railroad). My grandmother always said that she was born there. > > Thanks for whatever help you can offer! > Debbie Ullom > >
