The 27th Annual Derrow Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, August 20, from 12 to 5, at Westover Park (west of Harrisonburg, off Route 33), Shelter No. 1. Bring a vegetable dish, chicken, ham, rolls, drinks, dessertor whatever you canto share, and join family and friends for this enduring tradition. Well plan on eating once everyone arrives...about 1:00 or so. Dont forget your lawn chairs and any pictures youd like to share with the group! Everyone loves to look at pictures. Bring yours! Russell Derrow started the Derrow Family Reunion in 1973, primarily for the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of Emanuel E. and Fannie Rebecca Buhl Derrow. Over the years, weve expanded our scope of relations by defining the family beginning with its American progenitor, Levy Derrow (also known in German as Levin Doerge or Doerrie) and his wife, Anne Wye Derrow. Mostbut not allof the participants of past reunions descend from their son, Peter Derrow, and his wife, Mary Ransbottom, but descendants of the other sons, George, Henry, Jacob, Levy, and William are always welcome. One of Peter and Marys sons was Peachy Derrow, who married Elizabeth Baker. Their son, Emanuel, and his wife, Fannie, were the parents of Raleigh, Lucy, Jacob, Tracy, Lincoln, Ethel, Charlie, Walter, Russell, and Ira. Five of these have descendants who attend the reunion on a regular basis.
