Greetings, I am searching for parents and siblings of my ggg grandparents, Jacob Dean and Judith Cocks (Cock, Cox, and sometimes Cook). According to a "Portrait and Biographical Sketch of Des Moines County IA, 1888", Jacob Dean was born in Rockingham County,17 March 1799, and Judith Cox Dean was born in Pendleton County, January 13, 1797. This couple was married by Ferdinand Lair in Pendleton County, 30 September 1819, with Jas. Johnson signing as guardian for Jacob, and Robt. Cock as bondsman. They moved to Lewis County and are in the 1820, 1830 & 1840 census there and also in land records. They moved to Des Moines County IA in 1844 and are buried there. Their known children are: 1) Rachel born abt 1820 married Adam C. Shreves (s/o Joseph and Elizabeth Brake Whitecotton Shreves) in Lewis Co., VA/WV 2. George Washington born abt 1825 married Doschean Foster 3. Lucinda H. born about 1824 married Samuel Moyers in IA 4. 1 male unknow born between 1825-1830 5 Johnson born about 1828 married Mary Ann Walker in IA 6. Elizabeth born about 1830 married Andrew Myers in IA 7. Silas born November 10 1835, married Mary Elizabeth Martin (d/o Isaac Martin and Katherine Griffin Martin). This marriage in Schuyler Co., IL. -MY LINE Should say in moving to IA with my line is; Daniel Dean and wife, Mary. Silas Dean and wife, Antinette, Lair Dean and wife, Sarah, Marshall Irwin and wife Martha Dean, Samuel Fox and wife, also a Dean, and many of the children of Lair Dean amd Mahala Crites; i. e. James Dexter who married Lucinda Shreves (Daughter of Rachel Dean Shreves) William Lorenzo who married Elizabeth Reger etc. Also, In Schuler County, IL, where my gg grandparents were married are sons of John Dean and Catherine Heavener ie Perry, Elias, and John Dean (married to Hulda). So, I would like to correspond with anyone researching these surnames in these counties. And would like to know if anyone has information as to how the Johnson family fits into this. I have run into several Johnson/ Dean marriages in the state of VA. Wonder if this should connect somehow. Thank you for your time Ronna Cunningham
