I'm still chasing after Daniel JOSEPH in Augusta Co. and Rockingham Co. VA. If anybody sees anything familiar, please contact me. I don't know where Daniel JOSEPH was born but estimate his birth to 1755-1760. He served in the Augusta Co. Militia in 1779 and contributed 44 1/2 gallons of whiskey to the Revolution in 1782. In 1783 he bought property in Augusta Co. and also appeared in Rockingham Co. Court Minutes that same year. Daniel JOSEPH had married Eve HANGER, daughter of Frederick HANGER of Augusta Co., by June 15, 1784. By 1786, Daniel JOSEPH's name once again starts appearing in Rockingham Co. Court Minutes on numerous occasions. According to Augusta Co. Tax Lists, Daniel owned land in 1787, 1788, 1789, and 1790 while Eve JOSEPH was included in Rockingham Co. Tax Lists in 1786, 1787 and 1788. In July 1788, Daniel was residing at Keisletown and had been granted 'leave to keep ordinary at his house' (tavern or eating place) by Rockingham Co. Court. There was an Abraham JOSEPH family in Rockingham County about the same time. They are probably related--but how? Barbara DiMunno
