    1. Elder Benjamin Miller
    2. Sue Dietz of Front Royal sent me an article from THE GOSPEL MESSENGER, dated August 2, 1913, which was found in four pieces inserted into page of a Bible belonging to Laban Wilson Teets, born November 7, 1842, died April 30, 1917, which is now in Sue's possession. He was a minister of Newdale Church of the Brethren, ((Martin Miller, Sr., was supposedly the builder of New Dale Church.) Hardy County, Needmore, WV, on Kimsey's Run Road. The Bible is circa 1865-1870? The Bible was passed to youngest child of Laban Wilson Teets--Amanda May who married Charles Hall Miller, grandson of Martin, then to Amanda's oldest living daughter, Vesta Pearl and to Sue's mother and to her. ELDER BENJAMIN MILLER - GOSPEL MESSENGER - AUGUST 2, 1913 Elder Benjamin Miller of the Green Mount congregation in Rockingham County, Virginia, fell asleep in Jesus, June 11, 1913, at the advanced age of 83 y, 8 m, and 14 d - full of years and full of good works. At the time of his death he was the oldest elder in the Northern District of Virginia. He comes of a family rather remarkabLe for longevity and altogether remarkable for pluarlity, he being the youngest child of eighteen children. Eld. Daniel Miller and Sister Anna Hoover, his wife, the father and mother of Benjamin had born unto them nine sons and nine daughters Sixteen of them grew up to manhood and womanhood and most of them lived to an old age.Benjamin was the youngest and surviving member of the family Of the nine brothers, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Frederick and Benjamin were ministers of the Church of the Brethren; all ordained elders, and all active ministers and worked in the church Samuel and John were useful deacons. Daniel was the only one to die a layman. In his young manhood, April 15, 1852, Bro. Miller married Sister Hettie E Showalter of the Showalter family, talented in music. They lived together forty-six years, when Sister Miller died. To them were born twelve children-seven sons and five daughters. Nine of them grew to maturity. Three died in infancy. Anthony, a deacon, and John died young. All of the nine children that grew up became members of the Church of the Brethren. Of the four surving sons, three of them are ministers, Jacob A., Manvel, Texas, an elder; Benjamin F., Grottoes; and I. William, Singers Glen, both of Virginia. The oldest child living, the wife of Brother D.W. Wampler is the mother of Bro. B.F. Wampler, the head of the department of Music in_______ College, Huntingdon, PA. Mollie C. and Rebecca F. remain at the old home, where their father was born and died, and where nearly all his life was spent. November 23, 1800, Bro. Miller married Sister Catherine Fitzwater, a widow and a sister to his first wife. She survives him to mourn the loss of a faithful husband and devoted companion. There is another long column about his life and service to the Brethren Church. Sue is interested in exchanging information with anyone who recognizes this family. Her address is
