About 4 years ago I had a gravestone done for a Rev. War soldier who had fought at Trenton, Long Island and Ft. Washington. Some of his descendents installed the marker in the Lutheran Cemetery in Stephen City. I had notified the Winchester paper, their Historical Society and the DAR of Frederick Co. that this event was taking place in Frederick Co. My hope was that this recognition of his service would be a reminder that many gave so much for our freedom. No one, including the church, showed any interest at all. No response from any quarter. Pity. I am glad to know the service of the Civil War soldiers, the Powell brothers, was brought to our attention by the DNR. M.
