Karen Lee, The "1815 Virginia Landowners Directory" has a 1827/1859 Map of Rockingham County which shows New Haven just west of Port Republic just across a river. New Haven is mentioned in some of the Landowners' property descriptions such as: Adam ARGABRITE; New Haven; located 12 miles southeast of the county courthouse at Harrisonburg. You could probably work out the location of ARGABRITE's land by using your Atlas at home and/or mapquest/topozone moving southeast towards Port Republic for 12 miles. That should get you pretty close to New Haven, if not New Haven itself. Jacob BARGER is listed as being from Augusta County, Virginia with property in Port Republic Town located also 12 miles southeast of the county courthouse at Harrisonburg. So that makes New Haven look like a bedroom community of Port Republic which fits in with New Havens placement on the above mentioned map. I hope this description is of help to you. Chocy Brown
