This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: House, Haas, Hass, Hause, Horse families Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5BC.2ACI/1233.1 Message Board Post: I am researching Christian Hause/Hawse born in Pennsylvania about 1752 and died in Rockingham Co., Virginia in 1853. I do not know what Pennyslvania County Christian was from or how he spelled his name in Pennsylvania. I cannot find a connection with the Hardy County Hawse family but I am certain there was one.
I don't know if this is any help but figured I'd pass it along anyway. Online cemetery records for Rockingham County show a "Christian Haas" buried in the Turley Cemetery in Turleytown, Rockingham County, Virginia. The survey is posted of those buried in the cemetery at http://www.rootsweb.com/~varockin/HRHS/cem/turley.htm Lois and Bob Emswiler noted their survey date as being in November 2001. The notation for "Christian Haas" reads that he died "abt 1852" but that there is currently no visible marker for him. They also noted Robert Swank's 1967 survey notes which stated that Christian Haas "was buried here and age 100+ years". Don't know if that helps, but it might at least put you in the right direction and/or location.
