Does anyone know who Bowman Street in Dayton is named after and how long it has had that name. I had Bowman ancestors who lived at Brocks Gap and near the Lincoln home on Linville Creek sometime between 1750 and 1768.? My ancestor Cornelius Bowman was married at the Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church in the early 1760s.? His father Peter of Linville Creek and his uncle George Bowman of Brocks Gap may have been buried at the Cooks Creek Cemetery before Silver lake was built. -----Original Message----- From: Cdbaugh314@aol.com To: VAROCKIN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 5:32 pm Subject: [VAROCKIN] Victorian Mourning Customs & Local Undertaking History in Rockingham County Come join us for a free program tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society at the corner of Bowman & High Streets in Dayton, Virginia.
