(Not sure where in the County) Then, in the 1860 Census, this same family and additional children were in District 1; can someone tell me where that was? And finally, the last child born (9 Oct 1863)to John and Catherine was Ann(a) and she was supposedly born in the North Mountain, Ashby District; just what is meant by North Mountain? This family left Rockingham County around 1863 (family legend has it that they fled to Ohio on foot to avoid the war and inscrption into the Confederate Army). I can track them here in Ohio and I can trace Catherine (Hoover)'s family but am at a brick wall with my John EVANS. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
