Does anyone on this list have access to the Guardian Bond Book for Augusta County VA 1775-1804? I am looking for the information contained in it for Overshiners. I have only the following names: Colonel Thomas Hughart, Catherine Overshiner, John Overshiner and Philip Overshiner. I know that Peter Overshiner died in Augusta County VA before Sept. 1804, his wife Susanna (Schmeltzin) Overshiner having preceded him in death. He left some younger children, but I am not sure how many or who. I believe this guardian bond has to do with his surviving children under the age of 21. Can someone provide me with the information in the bond, or tell me how to locate the bond without having to go to either Augusta County or Richmond VA? Thanks

You may be able to get the record you need from www.familysearch.org which is the Salt Lake Genealogy Library of the LDS (Mormon) Church (one of the largest genealogy libraries in the world). When the home page comes up, click on Library Catalog, Then "Place Search", enter Augusta & Virginia and then search the records they have for Augusta County. It should be under Guardian Bonds, or if no such listing, it should be under Probate Records. They there will be a separate list of local Family History Centers in the 48 states, where you can find the one nearest you. At the local Center you can rent the film you want for a nominal sum....it will be shipped to the FHC and held there three weeks for you to use on their readers.
