My ancestor's land was on Daniel James Branch. I'm pretty sure they're one and the same. Mary Marie Arrington, in Mountain Valley People, says that Daniel James Branch headed near Fridley's Gap, down off the Massanutten, not too far north of Peaked Mountain, and flowed west to Smith's Creek. Along with three other streams, the whole drainage system is referred to now on maps as War Branch. Cort Sims wrote: > Can anyone tell me where James' Branch of Smith Creek is located?
