He left his family. The 1900 census of Botetourt Co., Va. says he was born in New York, his father was born in Scotland and his mother was born in Virginia. I believe his parents' names were James and Mary. Also looking for information on children: Christian (b. 9/22/1867), John W. (b. May 1870), Lucy Simmers(b. 1872) and Ellen Sattie Summers (b.
