    1. [VAROCKIN] New to the list!
    2. I am a fairly new subscriber to the Rockingham County Rootsweb list (but not new to Rootsweb or Genealogy) and I thought that this would be a good time for me to introduce myself. My name is Beth Fridley and I am the one that has transcribed the Virginia Birth and Death records for Ancestry.com. Although I never saw the messages myself, it has been brought to my attention that there were several posted regarding the Rockingham County databases being incorrect that also said, "be careful of this information". I just want to reassure everyone that I am as thorough as humanly possible when I transcribe these databases. This is going on my 3rd year transcribing records for Ancestry and though I love doing it, it is not always an easy job reading someone else's handwriting from a poor microfilm copy as many of you should have experienced while doing your own research. The databases that I submit are not scanned images- every single bit of that information is typed by me. I put so much effort into transcribing, that I can not seem to make time to trace my own family tree anymore. There are times when I have to skip a name or even pages of names because the copies that I make are just not legible enough for me to read. I do not like to skip pages simply because I know how discouraging it is for me to search the databases online and to come up with a "0 results" message. I want everyone to be able to find the name they're looking for in my databases. Whenever I receive Ancestry's daily news email stating that one of my databases has been posted online I immediately check it to make sure that it looks right and notify Ancestry if something is wrong, but obviously I can't check every name that has been entered. If you do find any errors and want to contact me feel free to email me personally (BFrid31@cs.com) and I'll do what I can to fix the problem or you can report them directly to Ancestry.com. When emailing me all I ask is that you be understanding to the fact that I am human and that I do make mistakes, but they are certainly not intentional. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this! Beth Evans-Fridley Tracing: ARMENTROUT, FRIDLEY, HENSLEY, LAM, SHIFFLETT (various spellings), & WILLIAMS in ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA.
