Meyerhoeffer Dead Survived his Wife less than Three Weeks Had been Ill for many Months, Son of Pioneer Lutheran Minister in Rockingham John L. Meyerhoeffer, a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham county, died at noon yesterday at his home a short distance off the Keezletown Road, near Meyerhoeffer's Store. His death, which followed that of his wife by less than three weeks, was preceded by an illness of many months. Mr. Meyerhoeffer was born in the neighborhood. His father was a Lutheran minister of note in his day, but he himself was a member of the Reformed church. He was in his 81st year. Untill too infirm to engage in any active pursuit he followed the trade of a painter. Mr. Meyerhoeffer is survived by one son--J. Hooke Meyerhoeffer, of near Rockland Mills; and one daughter, Miss Maggie, who lived with her father. He also leaves a brother--William Meyerhoeffer, formerly of Harrisonburg, but more recently of Staunton. The funeral will be held from St. Paul's Reformed church at half-past 10 o'clock this morning. The funeral party will leave the house at 9 o'clock.
