On Sep, 27th, 1879, he marry, Ella Margaret Offenbanker, just one month, after the birth, of my grandfather. This in it's self, is not all that odd, but that are very odd. In 1885, soon after his death, my great grantmother, marry William Deavers, from Page County, Va.. Also in the 150 years, before all of this happen, there were, a number of marriages, between the Strickler family, and the Grove family, in Old Virginia. Three of these stand out. Because, they were marriages of, two brothers marrying, two sisters. With the survivor, of each marriage, marrying each other, there for making three different families. Could this, have been the cause of, bad blood, between the two families, 150 years later. Also something els odd, after the marriage, of Matha Gertrude Strickler, to William Deavers, in 1885. There were attempts, to change my grandfather last name, all of them fail. You can see this for yourself, by going to the World Connect site, and fine my great grandmother name. I do not know, when this happen, but soom of these attempts, my have happen, after 1950. Any way, my grandfather David Marcellus Grove, met my grandmother, Barbara Elizabeth Yager, who was born on, May 25th, 1881, in Rockingham County, Va,.. Sometime in the late 1890's, and they were marry soon after. Once more, there are no records. Her two younge sisters, were both marry in Rockingham, and here are records. Two reasons, first, The town of, Marksville, missing records. Second, the marriage was in the home of my great grandmother. Who at the time, was very ill, and die soon after, in 1901. Years ago, I was able to contact, a Stickler family member, and was told, that there is, something in an old family journal. It is only eight words,"Today David Marcellus Grove marry Barbar! a Elizabeth Yayer",nothing more, no time, or date. Soon after there marriage, my grandparents left the Shenandoah Valley, never to return. They move to a town, just outside of the valley, Clifton Forge. There they started there own family, my father, Willia Yager Grove, being, not only there first child, but also, the first grandson, of Matha Gertrude Strickler, if she had live. But I can not help to wonder! What if they stay in the vally? A family, with the blood of, the Stricker's, the Yager's, and the Grove's, in them, What would they be like today. Well that is all that I , can tell you, Laura. You can look at all of my posting, to see,if I, miss anything. One last thing, my father added, the "s", to his last name, when he move up north, and marry my mother.
