    3. Jane Green- I am searching for the Christian Haas/Hass/Hause who was born in 1752 and died in 1853 in the Shenandoah Valley (Rockingham Co.) of Virginia. The 1850 census says that he was born in Pennsylvania. Christian had a son, also named Christian (Haase), who married in Rockingham Co., Virginia in 1809. The 1850 and 1860 census says that Christian Jr. was born in Pennsylvania. Christian Sr. also seemed to have a son named Israel (Hause) who lived in Rockingham Co. Israel was apparently named in Christian's will, but I cannot find the will. Christian Sr. might have had a daughter named Elizabeth, but the evidence of that is slim. I do not know names of Christian Sr.'s parents, wife, or other children. I am intent upon identifying my ancestry before Christian. It seems that Christian was of German heritage and thus it is logical that he would have come to Virginia from Pennsylvania. Also, due to German naming conventions of that era, Christian was probably his middle name. Fortunately, Christian lived to be over 100 years old so he is well documented in Virginia starting with the 1810 census. But, neither the 1790 nor the 1800 census are available for Virginia. Also, the property tax records for Rockingham Co. for that period do not seem to be available. So, I am not certain when Christian moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia. Because of Christian Jr.'s marriage, I am certain that it was before 1809. I am on a mission to track down every Haas, Hass, Haase, Haus, etc. who lived in Pennsylvania before about 1810. My logic is that if I learn about each family, I can identify my 4th Great Grandfather through an elimination process. The task is daunting and perhaps beyond my ability. But, I have not yet given up. So far, I have identified about 300 Haases. When I finish, I will publish the results on the Web. Of the Haases that I have recorded so far, the following are candidates to be my Christian: Christian Haas 1790 census in Berks Co., Pennsylvania, Reading Boro Free White Males 16 up: 2 Free White Males to 16: 2 Free White Females: 4 1800 census in Berks Co., Pennsylvania, Reading Boro Free White Males to 10: 0 Free White Males to 16: 0 Free White Males to 26: 1 Free White Males to 45: 1 Free White Males 45 up: 0 Free White Females to 10: 2 Free White Females to 16: 1 Free White Females to 26: 0 Free White Females to 45: 1 Free White Females 45 up: 0 Christian Haas & Margaret Church Records Christian Haas, Born 27 Oct 1784, baptized 5 Dec 1784 Trinity Union Church, Springfield Twp., Bucks Co., Pennsylvania parents Christian Haas & Margaret Christian Hass 1790 census in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, No Twp Listed Free White Males 16 up: 1 Free White Males to 16: 2 Free White Females: 3 1800 census in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, Haycock Twp. When my 2nd great grandfather moved to Ohio, he eventually began spelling his name Hawes. I welcome any help.
