I want to jump in on this Shaffer (Schafner) Shaver etal My John Adam Bloss b-abt 1857(or Blose) married a Schafner. My JAB lived on the Bloss/Blose homestead c-1764 land grant. It is located on the south side of Naked Creek, about 1 mile east of Verbena. To see the location go to mapquest.com type in Blose Rd Elkton VA. Then look at the farm on the SE corner of Blose Rd where it dead ends into Naked Creek. My JAB had a several children, one Johann Adam Blose b-1805 was baptized at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Jacob Schafner is listed as father of the bride. Dayton VA is about 16 miles WSW of the location I describe.
