    3. >>> Good luck on the hunt for information about Sellers. Btw, I'm always on the outlook since I have seen an old Eyman deed where the lands in Penn Township somewhere out toward Cumberland was adjacent to that of Henry Seller/Zeller. The deed was dated 1770. I'm not sure how far back one can get though I did a quick google and could sure find a lot. I tend to go to "books" and search the pdfs. Here's a quick sample: Abstracts of land Grant Surveys of Augusta and Rockingham: Christopher Dupo, 38 acres. Adjoining Michael Sellers, Solomon Mathews, Ruben Harrison, May 6, 1789. Wayland's Virginia Valley records p. 111 shows a military voucher 1788 for having served (apparently) with/for Captain Richard Ragan's Company #13. The listing shows 1 tithable (likely self), son Jacob, 4 horses. More vouchers: On p.115, John Sellers is listed with sons Jacob and John with 8 horses directly next to Peter Sr. with sons John, Jacob, and 7 horses., and p. 115: Adam with sons Cristian, Henry, Peter, and 9 horses, Peter with 3 horses. Landowners for 1789 showed Sellers: Michael, John, Adam, Peter, Sr. I'm not sure this will help. You might take that deed from 1789 which clarifies that Michael was clearly there and explore with online land resources at University of Virginia.. or see if you can find other information by looking at deeds and/or surveys of Dupo, Mathews, Harrison. Best of luck.. >>> I'm trying to see how early Michael began >> appearing on the Tax Lists and >>> whether such info locates him around or close to any >> other Sellers in the >>> - - - - - - - - - - Stephen Iman sciman@csupomona.edu 24242 Porto Fino, Dana Point CA 92629 949-496-3774 "Tell me and I'll forget...Involve me and I'll learn"

    3. Hi Julie, Thanks very much for the info involving the Rockingham Publik Claims that shows Michael Sellers supplying 200 lbs of beef during the Rev. War. Much appreciated. That really helps in trying to get a better picture of Michael overall in terms of his age. I've also found him listed with "1 tithable" on Felix Gilbert's 1775 Tithable List for Augusta County. I just don't know if that tithable was a child or not. If the tithable was a child and assuming the child was no older than 16 in 1775, it would seem to suggest that Michael was born at least in the late 1730s or early 1740s. I'm hoping for additional information from the Tax Lists for Rockingham County prior to 1787 but have not found any sources as yet for that info. Any help would still be greatly appreciated. 1. [VAROCKIN] Michelberry Henderson Lam
    2. Phyllis Teels
    3. Wondering if anyone might have an idea of where to go next? Looking for more information on Michelberry H. Lam He was alive in Aug. of 1884, as he sold 29 acres of land in Rockingham Co. After that date I can't find him in the tax records, or any others. I also have a question about how a deed reads from that date. His wife, who divorced him in 1882, is listed as his"late wife". Does this necessarily mean she is dead? \ Are there any collections of obituaries from the local newspaper for the time period of say 1885 to 1900? Thanks, Phyllis Teels
