Shiflett & Jenny Bruce Nellie Shiflett & Benny Bolton Julia Bolton & Donald Ritz ME!!! now i have not gotten deep into the lawsons...... just because these shiflets take up so much of my time but my gg grandfather theophilus shiflett was named for his uncle Theophilus Lawson. I don't know much about the DNA project, and I probably don't have funds to have my son tested due to everything going up but my paycheck but lets talk! We desperately need a LAWSON male who is a direct descendent from the John LAWSON and Eve HARNESS line to participate in the DNA project to try and find a connection of the 2 distinct lines. It is even more confusing that John and Maria Lewin LAWSON had a son named Marcus b. 1824 who lived in Rockingham Co. John and Maria were in Warren Co. and I think both died there. I know for sure that John LAWSON, Sr., William M., Alexander and Theophilus were all in Harrison Co., (W)V during the 1820 census and were there before 1817. Most of their descendents stayed in what is now WV and live in the central part of the state within a few miles of the original farms owned by these men. In dozens of early land records in Augusta County there is a notation at the end of the record itself that reads "c. g. e. p.", and I have no idea what it means. The land records are found in "Chalkley's Chronicles" and because of the frequency of the c. g. e. p. appearances I'm sure they are not Chalkley's own notations. Some examples of the notation: "1750-51, Febrary 28th--Henry Seller, 100 acres joining land he bought of Lewis, c. g. e. p." "1748-49, March 10th--William Curry, 200, near John Young, Thos. Patton; a place called Nicolin's Bottom, 16th June, 1752, six rights; 200, between Walnut Bottom and Buffilo (Buffalo) Meadow (c. g. e. p.)"
