    1. [VAROCKIN-L] FW: Strickler-Trout-Shaver-Funkhouser
    2. Sue Koller
    3. I'm looking for the connection of these lines, which can take the families back to Daniel Strickler who was married to Elizabeth Funkhouser, and connect the Trout and Shaver/Shafer lines. This would put the time period in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Sue K.

    1. [VAROCKIN-L] Mrs. William Derrer Obituary
    2. I found this lovely obituary while researching old newspapers. Hope someone can use the info. Obituary notice from the Harrisonburg Daily News, Monday, March 1, 1909 MRS. WILLIAM DERRER DEAD Suffers Stroke of Paralysis and Lives Only Two Hours After an illness of only two hours, Mrs. William Derrer , an aged lady of the Paulington neighborhood, who had hardly had a day’s sickness in all her long life, breathed her last yesterday afternoon between 6 and 7 o’clock. Shortly after 4 o’clock Mrs. Derrer suffered a severe stroke of paralysis, lapsing into a state of unconsciousness from which she never rallied. Mrs. Derrer was a remarkable woman, having always enjoyed unusual health and strength. It is said that she had never been sick enough to require the services of a physician. Her husband, William Derrer, died in 1885. Eight children survive her-George, J. M., Luther V., and Miss Elmira, at Paulington; R. M. and T. I at Keezletown; Mrs. Nina Bennett, at Oakwood; L. C. Derrer, of the Paulington neighborhood. Deceased was 74 years of age on the 15th day of Last July. She was born and reared in the neighborhood in which she died. Her maiden name was Anna Margie Bolton. A sister, Mrs. Jemima Shelley, lives in Hampshire county, W. Va. She was a member of the United Brethren church. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock from Bethel church, services to be conducted by Rev. G. B. Fadeley.

    1. [VAROCKIN-L] Its a small world/ Weed-Walker-Finley-Shaver
    2. Sue Koller
    3. Maybe some of you have had this same experience.(or similar) While working on my family line and getting no new information (Shaver/Shafer), I decided to work on my Husband's mothers line (Weed) only because this seemed pretty easy in that there was already some information and I knew they came from Stamford CT, where incidentally we are planing to move shortly. Anyway, I started to look into the Weed family and found a Shaver connection to my Weed family, not unusual Shaver is a pretty common name. But now I find that the Weed family also is in LaSalle County IL, where my Shaver's ended up, and that (specifically) Edmund Weed, came from VA, possibly Rockingham Co., VA, where his wife Keziah Walker came from. (Rockinigham is where I do extensive research on my Shaver line) so, If someone has information on Edmund Weed's marriage to Keziah Walker-daughter of David Walker, please let me know. I found from the book "Ottawa Old and New" a book on the history of Ottawa of LaSalle County Ill, that Dr. David Walker came to LaSalle County from Rockingham in 1826 he was accompanied by his wife Phoebe (Finley) Walker. Any other information on this Weed family, especially with a connection to the Weed's of Stamford, would be greatly appreciated. I hope that this accounting is understandable. In doing research for over 4 years now I have found many coincidences, but this one really threw me, I'm connected to my husbands family long before we we're married and vise-versa, but that's another story. Happy Hunting Sue K.

    2. Doug Garber
    3. Hello Rockingham County, Presently, members of the HENRY surname list are building a web site that contains an index of their HENRYs. When completed, it should be helpful to many HENRY family historians. I have been asked to conduct a search for links to HENRY online resources like personal web pages, and county and local genealogy association resource pages. If you have substantial HENRY information on your web page or know of HENRY information on your county or other local web site, please send the links to Judy Henry at jchenry@flash.net , so that they might be included in the new HENRY site. If you have some HENRY data that is not on a website, you may wish to subscribe to the list by sending an email to: HENRY-L-request@rootsweb.com containing as the only text the word "subscribe" (no quotes) in the body of the message. After you get a message confirming your subscription, post your information by email to HENRY-L@rootsweb.com . Thank you.
