Penny, Sorry, but I don't have the above in my file. I quite sympathize with trying to locate Miller's. Maggie
Can anyone help clarify this small mystery? In 1947, Eliza Sours Miller Fadley Runion, died in Woodstock, Va. & is buried in Ohio. Listed as her survivors were the following children: Reason Miller b. 1908 Violet P. Miller Snider b. 1905 Maynard Miller Russell Miller Mae Miller Greenlore Gladys Fadley Lee Leonard Fadley In 1967, Russell David Runion, husband of Eliza Sours etc, died & the same children were listed as stepchildren with a major exception: Reason Miller was now known as Reason Orebaugh. In 1975, I have found that Reason Devaugh Orebaugh, died with an entirely different set of parents, namely, Jacob Augusta Orebaugh & Elma Crider Orebaugh. Listed in his obit are the same siblings as listed in obits of Eliza & Russell David Runion. 1st question - was Reason a Miller or an Orebaugh? 2nd question - are his Miller siblings really Millers? Any & all help will be extremely appreciated Thanks, Judy Campbell -- http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9793/ Researching: Sours, Miller, Sedwick, Montgomery Fristoe and others Judy Campbell

Martha, Cruel to say I don't have any information on the WILL family, but rather to request is you have any more information on the children of Abraham and Barbara ? Jones? I've been curious for a long time about the following Jones': Descendants of Mary Jones 1 Mary Jones b: June 14, 1827 in Virginia d: June 19, 1903 in Rockingham County, Virginia . +William Kyger b: July 14, 1807 in Rockingham County, Virginia m: June 03, 1848 in Rockingham County, Virginia d: April 28, 1855 in Rockingham County, Virginia Burial: Shady Grove Church Cemetery (United Methodist). 1850 census shows Sophia Jones, age 23, in the household. Also, a Frances Jones married William Henry Hudlow (not my line). Do you know if any of the above are children of Abraham and Barbara ? Jones? Maggie Kyger Miller
Hi! Would someone check marriages for me for James H. Harris and Elizabeth Miller-Bare/Bear between 1853 and 1855. Thanks Julie _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
Hello Everyone, I've been searching a long time for information on the Will family who lived on the old County Line Road near Timberville. Thanks to a gentleman who now owns and lives in their old homeplace, I have some new names but am wondering if anyone has any additional information on these folks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William and Mary Good, daughter Rebecca Good married Evan Jones on June 19, 1855, daughter Elizabeth Jones married Jacob Will Evan Jones, son of Abraham and Barbara ? Jones, Abraham Jones son of Evan Jones who died in 1799? Still trying to figure out where Jacob Will came from and who his parents were. He and Elizabeth had 6 children: David, Garnett, Evan, William, Emma, and James Carson. James Carson married Edna Zirkle whose parents were David Zirkle and Elizabeth Moore. Any info on the families of Good, Jones, Will, Zirkle, and Moore would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Martha
Hey Everyone....answered my own question! I found that Elizabeth P. Mateer Harris died in 1853....making the other Elizabeth who died in 1886 Elizabeth Miller-Bare. the Samuel and Martha Mateer where Elizabeth P. Mateer's parents. >From the Oxford Presbyterian Church Cemetery records Old Section row 2 Mateer, Samuel 1786-1838 Mateer, Martha 1795-1865 Mateer, Mary 1778-1848 Hendron, Sarah 1780-1852 Mateer, Pheby S. 1823-1832 Harris, Elizabeth P. 1819-1853 OK...So where and when did James H. Harris marry Elizabeth Miller-Bare!!!! Julie _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
Hello all, Some of you may recall my unrelenting quest for info. about my James H. Harris and finding descendants. Well, finally I have found a cousin! And in finding her it has brought me a few steps closer to solving one of the biggest mysteries I've posted. To recap: James H. Harris b.abt.1819 in VA. Find him in Rockbridge Co. VA when he married Elizabeth P. Mateer in 1847. Find him again with Elizabeth on the 1850 census record of Rockbridge Co. VA with two of the children: Romulus and Regina. Find him again on the 1860 census of Ritchie Co WV with an Elizabeth and more children: Romulus, Regina, Mary M., James H., Robert C., Sarah J., Leonides, and Josephine L. Bear age 15. 1870--don't know where he was 1880 finds him and an Elizabeth on the Ritchie Co. census with James H., Leonides, and now William M. the youngest of the kids who was born 1861. The rest of the kids have moved on. You all might remember me posting a query about info. I had found on the LDS site in reference to finding James H. Harris and his children, first posted with the mother Elizabeth P. Mateer and second posted with the mother Elizabeth Miller-Bare. Well, the cousin I have found and her grandmother who is still living, descend from the child Sarah J. Harris. >From speaking with them I have been able to find out that Sarah J. Harris removed to Salt Lake with her husband and family. Sarah's husband, Oscar Brinkley, died in Salt Lake and Sarah moved to California. She did this because her brother, Robert C. Harris was living there. My new cousins grandmother remembers Robert C. Harris, she called him Uncle Dick and what she remembers most was him telling her that he and Sarah were half siblings...they had different mothers. This would diffently explain why I find Elizabeth P. Mateer and Elizabeth Miller-Bare both listed as mother. This would explain why Josephine L. Bear is listed as living with James and family in 1860. Robert and Sarah where next two each other in the birth order. Robert being born about 1855 and Sarah being born about 1857. This would mean that Elizabeth p. Mateer died between 1855 and 1857 and James remarried to Elizabeth Miller-Bare before Sarah was born in 1857. I also know that one of the Elizabeth's died in 1886 and then James goes on to remarry Emily Somers in 1886. What I need to find is an exact death record for Elizabeth P. Mateer and one Elizabeth Miller-Bare (Harris?) Now I know that the Elizabeth buried in the Harris cemetery is the wife of James H. Harris and the tombstone reads 1819 to 1886 but the thing of it is...Both Elizabeth's were born about the same time. I also need to find the marriage of James H. Harris to Elizabeth Miller-Bare. I also need to find where James was living in 1870 as he does not show up in the 1870 Ritchie Co. census records. Please let me know what you all think.... Thanks again, Julie _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
Looking for the parentage of John H. Rolston, father of Benjamin Franklin Rolston, who lived in Rockingham Co.. Far too many John H. and Benjamin F. Rolston's in my family to keep up with! I would enjoy corresponding with any one working genealogy of the Rolston/Rolstone/Ralston of Augusta & Rockingham counties.
Layton MOYERS (the son of Joseph and Mary (?) MOYERS) was born January 20, 1818 in probably Rockingham County, Virginia. He married SALOME AMANDA PROPST on June 13, 1872 in Rockingham County. Salome was the daughter of REUBEN PROBST and MARY ANN HAINES. Two researchers on the KYGER family noted that a child of Layton and Salome was SARAH J. MOYERS. I've just discovered that this could not be as Sarah was born August 22, 1855. Sarah married JOHN W. BRILL September 1, 1878. In the 1880 census Sarah and John Brill were living next to Layton Moyers and his wife. Layton was living with his parents in both the 1850 census (age 32) and the 1860 census (age 42). I was hoping I would find that he was a widower with a daughter named Mary living with him in the 1860 census--but not. I could not find him anywhere in the 1870 census. Does anyone have the parents of SARAH J. MOYERS in their files? Maggie Kyger Miller maggiem@empnet.com
I am researching this couple who were both born in Virginia. They were married in Madison County, Ohio on August 14, 1845. They had 10 children; Matilda, Martha, Mary E., Dolly, and Virginia, all born in Ohio, and Sarah, Rebeccah, George W., Myra, and Charles Edward (my grandfather) were born in Logan County, Illinois where they had emigrated. Washington was the son of Jacob Linson b. Nov. 4, 1785 in Greenbrier County, VA d. Jan. 20, 1846 Madison County, Ohio. m. Dorothea (Dolly) Rader March 15, 1809 in Greenbrier Co., b. Nov. 23, 1789 in Timberville, Rockingham Co., Virginia d. Jan 23, 1883 in Madison Co. Ohio. Washington and Sarah are buried in Richmond Grove Cemetery, Sheridan TWP, IL. Their graves read: Sarah E. Linson, wife of G. W. died May 30, 1881 ae. 53 years, and G. W. died Sept. 28, 1880 ae. 66 years, 6 months, 25 days. In the latter part of his life, he went by Geo. W. Linson even though he had a brother by that name. I can go back another generation on the Linson side but I have come up against a brick wall on Sarah and her family. She was born in 1827 in Virginia. Who were her parents? On an IL census report, it lists a Nancy McBride living with the family. I assume she was Sarah's sister. Is anyone researching the McBride family? I would certainly appreciate your info on this subject. Thanks in advance. Marge in Nebraska df82657@navix.net

Ron, Has this book been printed/reprinted? And if so, do you know the current publisher? Thanks, Maggie Kyger Miller >the book, "Early Lutheran Baptisms and Marriages in the Southeastern >Pennsylvania. The Records of Rev John Casper Stoever from 1730-1779"
Edgar A. Howard I don't have a definitive answer about your ancestor George Ehrhardt, but in the book, "Early Lutheran Baptisms and Marriages in the Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Records of Rev John Casper Stoever from 1730-1779", there are several Ehrhardts listed and most seemed to be connected with the Warwick Church in Lancaster Co, PA. One of the records was for one of my ancestors Rudi Maag who had a daughter Elizabetha born 1 Nov 1735 and who was baptized on 2 May 1736 at Opecquon. The sponsors were Carl Ehrhardt and Barbara Buger. Since it was often relatives who were sponsors for baptisms, it has always intrigued me to know who these two people were who were the sponsors. Rev John Casper Stoever was an itinerant Lutheran minister who traveled to some of the churches in Pennsylvania and Virginia to perform baptisms and marriages. Opecquon was a region in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia which at that time was part of Orange County, and later became Frederick County, VA and now much of this area is in Shenandoah County, VA. Rudi Maag was my 6th great grandfather, Rudolph Mauck who was one of the earliest documented Maucks in this area of Virginia. I know nothing more about this Carl Ehrhardt, but he would appear to be a very early Ehrhardt in this area of Virginia and you might keep this name in mind since he could be the father of your George Ehrhardt. However, if you know for fact that your George Ehrardt was born in Germany in about 1742 then it might be unlikely that this Carl would be his father, since he was here in America in 1736. I know that I have found instances in my own family where family tradition had an ancestor born in Germany, whereas in reality, it was someone who proceeded him. In case you run across any Maags or Maucks in your early family records, I would appreciate hearing about it. I would also be most interested if you may be able to identify this Carl Ehrhardt. <<Ron Moore>> rmoore@cybergate.com ************************************* In search of . . . . data on George EHRHARDT b. abt. 1742 in Germany, who md.
