Julie, According to John F. Byerly, Jr.'s book, "The Byerly Family of the Valley of Virginia", the mill stood on Swift Run Gap road where it crossed Kirtesses' Creek in the Pleasant Valley area. It was destroyed by fire in 1886. > Can anyone please provide me with info on the whereabouts of >Byerley's Mill may have been? I am looking for an old homestead >there. First: Does anyone know of a William KEYSER of whatever spelling, who married a Kesiah or Keziah? He would have been born abt. 1755, but that is flexible. I suspect he may have come from Pennsylvania area, but his birth is attributed at present to Virginia. Either Hanover or Bath seems to be the current trend of thought. Next: I wish to invite all KEYSER/KEISER/KAISER/KEYSOR/KAEYSER/CAYZER, etc. researchers to join our email list group of over 100. It is serious about tracing our K----r's back to the various immigrants, and even going overseas. Hi, I am looking for information on William H. Campbell s/o Isaac & Elizabeth Campbell who married Georgianna Burner Comer, d/o Hamilton & Dolly Burner. Looking for information on the parents and siblings of John C. Mann b. Feb-1836 in Rockingham Co., VA. He and his brother servied in the Civil War in the 14th VA Calvary. His brother was Charles H. Mann, b. 1846. John married Sarah 'Sallie' Johnson on May 2, 1867 in Barbour Co., WV. There is a family enumerated in the census of Augusta Co., VA in 1860 that has children John (age 13) and Charles (age 3) that seem to be the two I am looking for. The parents are Olvier and Harriet Mann, the same parents detailed on John C. Mann's wedding record. Hello Richard, Im one of the many who are interested in the Dean family of Rockingham County. Many of the Elkton and Rockingham County Dean's can trace their family line back to James T. Dean and one of his two wives, Susanna Harness or Sarah Monger. I happen to have both of his wives in my lines. Russell Kyger Joseph Kyger Lucy Dean Nicholas Dean Morgan Dean James Dean + Sarah Monger and my other line goes back on my mothers side the James First wife Russell Kyger Beatrice Shifflett Irving Shifflett Hosea Shifflett Caroline Shifflett Lucinda Dean James Dean + Susanna Harness The Dean line also shows up in many times in the descendants of Christian Geiger a early ancestor who came to Rockingham County back in the 1700's. My Cousin, Maggie Kyger Miller and I have website's with over 16,000 Kyger related family members of Christian Geiger that you might want to visit. <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ridge/3251/">Kyger Geoscities Homepage</A> Russ
Cheryl, >Any descendants of Hiram Conrad Miller b 30 Oct 1852. I note a Rev. Hiram G. Miller born about 1854 who married Julia Wright, source "The Byerly Family of the Valley of Virginia", in my database. They had four sons and several daughters. Right Miller? (Julia was a distant relative.) Maggie Kyger Miller maggiem@empnet.com
Cheryl, I don't know if there's a connection, but I also have Miller's. One thing that strikes me from what you say is Ringgold. I don't have Ringgold myself, but one of the children of Samuel Gibbons, husband of Christina Miller (and brother to my own John Gibbons) was an Alfred Ringgold Gibbons. Given the use of Ringgold, perhaps there is a connection to that Miller-Gibbons line. -- Mary Taffet mdtaffet@syr.edu Cheryl Miller wrote: > > Researching all of the above in Rockingham Co/Augusta Co early 1900's and > prior. > Any descendants of Hiram Conrad Miller b 30 Oct 1852. > William Steven Minnick b 17 May 1856 > Amanda Elizabeth Ringgold b 15 sept 1851 > Amanda Alice Grogg b 8 sept 1869 > Cheryl > Proud Rootsweb Sponsor
Hi Cheryl! Maybe we're relatives. I don't know. I had Millers in Rockingham Co in the early to mid 1800s. They came from Germany to Penn to Virginia and Ohio. Don't know if they are connected to yours, but you can have a look on my website below. Good luck, David S. Miller http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/4611/miller.html

I am searching for a BUSHONG family that may have left Rockingham Co. ca 1812. They went to Fairfield Co., OH. I only know the childrens names, they are Mary b. 1812, Peter, Israel, Samuel, and Rachel. I know this is a long shot, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Karen Fry
Thanks for the information. More than one David Miller getting married nearly at the same time! Our David was married on July 10, 1862 to Delilia (Delilah) Jane Blackwell. My grandmother has mentioned the Blackwells were a very prominent Virginian family. In 1863, he and Delilia left for Ohio (Preble Co.). They lived in Preble Co. for 14 years. By 1880, they were living in Washington Co., Ark., where both spent the rest of their lives. I have started a website with my Miller Family info. Right now it is more a narrative history of what I have gathered. It's not finished, but may be of some interest to those researching Millers. Here is the url: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/4611/miller.html I'm kind of stuck at this point, looking for more info on both David's and Delilia's parents. Hello I'm just newly subscribed. Happy to be here! I am looking for information on the William Miller family of Rockingham Co. Here are some brief facts: My greatgrandfather, DAVID STEELE MILLER, was born in Rockingham Co on March 20, 1839. He was the youngest of five children born to WILLIAM and RUTH MILLER. William was a native of Pennsylvania and was of German descent. Ruth, from Virginia. William was a farmer all his life and died in 1857. Ruth died in 1860. At this point, that is all I have to go on. William and Ruth Miller had a total of five children, the last one (David S. Miller) born in 1839 in Rockingham Co. Any additional information would be _greatly_ appreciated! And I'm more than happy to share what I have. Thank you very much, David S. Miller, II
Hello all, In trying to help another subscriber figure out why the link to Rich Lebo's Miller page wasn't working for him, I moved back a level to Rich's main page. It was then that I realized that he has multiple listings of names that appear in Augusta/Rockingham County records, including (besides the already mentioned Miller): Snyder Showalter Keffer/Kieffer Rhodes Shank etc., etc. The link to his main page is: http://www.arches.uga.edu/~lebo/ As with the Miller pages, he includes multiple lines within each surname page. Some scrolling/searching required to take in the names. -- Mary Taffet mdtaffet@syr.edu
