    3. Perhaps we are so used to each other and our interlocking family trees that we do not take advantage of our individual databases. My database is full of Rockingham County families. Surnames are not helpful. Specific names are. I have endless patience looking up SPECIFIC first and surnames. I also list various births (probably illegitimate) from the census images from Rockingham County from 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880. I have the census images of 1900, 1910, 1920. (No index--probably good since I will be forced to actually look at each page.) My brick wall: Maria Ammon. My second great grandmother. Gosh, I really would like to know her ancestors. In addition to Maria Ammon, I am also a descendant of Elizabeth DINKLE who married Soloman HOFFMAN in 1796 and Elizabeth BYERLY who married Jacob HUFFMAN in 1821. I totally believe in sharing. We all benefit. I frankly find it curious that so little sharing takes place on this site. Maria Ammon. She MAY BE the daughter of Christopher Ammon. Think MAY BE. 1. Yount, Stuart, Boicourt marriages
    2. Jean J. Boicourt
    3. I have the following information on the marriage of these two folks. Can anyone claim them as "family"? SOURCE: OLD TENTH LEGION MARRIAGES MARRIAGES IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA FROM 1778 TO 1816 Taken from marriage bonds. Compiled by Harry M. Strickler YOUNT, John & Ann Margaret BOICOURT 1790; (bondsman) Francis Stuart. Daughter of Boicourt Stuart SOMEWHERE there should be a marriage between a Boicourt and a Stuart, but so far I haven't found it. Boicourt has been spelled several ways, so anything even close may be my Ann Margaret. Hugs, Jean

    1. [VAROCKIN] KITE, oddly enough! Maybe a huge Merger...
    2. Vincent Edward Summers
    3. Can you help here? There is a great branch of PA KITES from Blockley and Philadelphia in general. I have a page on them at: http://members.xoom.com/Stockham/Kite.html But there is a branch, new to my knowledge, that claims VA origins, and that begins to look like a new, fascinating branch, every bit as long as the PA branch! Two huge chains that seek to merge. And ROCKINGHAM, may hold the clue. Do you folks know of anything such as is found here? http://www.FamilySearch.org/Search/af/ancestral_file_frame.asp?recid=2583089 This gives a John (Windlekite) Wendell KITE as born, Blockley, Phila., PA on 21 Oct. 1682. Died July 3, 1745 in ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA. Buried 1745 at Merion, PA, a Quaker burial ground. Please, please tell me about ALL Kites you may be aware of. This is a great opportunity to discover if two great lines, a north and a south, meet! Thanks, Vince Summers

    3. I want to thank all those that responded to my post on the above couple. I really appreciate the help. I thought I would post my surnames and tell you a little about my wesite. In early June I uploaded my first experience with a website . It is done in Frontpage Express which I have found is really easy to work with and gives me everything I need. My lines are mostly connected to West Virginia where everybody is related to everybody and rumors handed down through the family tell of Native American bloodlines and very little recorded documnets. My COLLINS line is my father's line and is what I have envested many years of work on. I have searched this line back to Meredith Collins b. 1760 Va. and feel this is a Melungeon /Native American line that dates back to the Saponi Indians of Orange Co. ( court record 1742) . Other lines include:COLLINS SPENCER TAYLOR BENNETT WILLIAMS WOODS COTTRILL PRINCE SHOULDERS PERRY PATTERSON LYONS ALLMAN FISHER GODFREY BAILEY LUSK I would like to invite all to visit my site at : http://members.xoom.com/BJ_Dillon/Appalachiack.htm Appalachia Creek Family History & Research

    2. Brenda Dillon
    3. Good Morning folks, My name is Brenda Collins Dillon. I have been involved in genealogy for most 30 years...LOL that really gives away my age. I was born in Nicholas Co. WVa. and most of my surname lines walked the land there or went thru that country. I now live in Massachusetts, the grandma of 18 grandchildren. Today I would like to ask if anybody on this list cvan help me verify the marriage of Hugh Williams and Jane Bell. Early in my research I was given by a family member that they were born in Rockingham Co. Va. however I resently was told they married in Greenbrier Co. VA/WV. I believe this couple had about 11 children(according to census but I only have found 3). Brenda Collins Dillon Descendants of Hugh Williams Generation No. 1 1. Hugh1 Williams was born 1767 in Va.. 1. [VAROCKIN] KEYSER/KISER of Rockingham
    2. Vince Summers
    3. I write for two reasons. A primary one and a secondary one. My primary one is that I found on LDS, an ancestral file that incorporates KISERs from about 10 different states, one of which is VA, and is specifically Rockingham, VA. Two of this fellow's brothers are listed as from Hampshire, VA. Is this Rockingham, by another name? Now this fellow in Rockingham was Richard KISER, b. Feb. 10, 1768, m. Rebecca Moslander, who was b. Cape May County, NJ. Oddly, this NJ woman being involved adds great importance to the search for me. At any rate, the stay was not indefinite in VA, because Richard died, and was buried in Mercer County, Ohio. The possible original spelling was KEYSER, as in the ancestral file, it traces back to a Johannes or John KISER or KEYSER. Now my wife is connected to the KEYSERs of Virginia... specifically RockBRIDGE, VA. I can't help but think there could be a connection between these two. If anyone has ANY Keyser or Kiser data, in Virginia, please let me know, won't you? Now, the secondary purpose in contacting you... I also have a KEYSER Email list. A big one. 122 members, and adding, never subtracting. It has Keyser, Kyser, Cayzer, Keiser, Kaiser, Kiser, Kezer, Kaeser, etc. Someone told me it all goes back to KREYSER eventually in the European lands. I would like to invite any Keyser researchers to join us. We have an archive of about 500 data emails, and it can be accessed via password, that is provided by automated response upon subscription from Listbot. To join, there is a button-interface at: http://Keyserlink.listbot.com/ Vince

    3. I am looking for information on William Jefferson Morris, b. abt. 1818 in Orange County, VA, who moved to Rockingham County, VA, from Green County, VA, sometime after the 1870 Census. He married Luraney Shiflett, daughter of John Shiflett and Rhoda ? on 23 Jul 1840. His mother was Susanna Morris, b. abt. 1795, daughter of Ikey Morris and Elizabeth ? Unsure who his father was. His mother Susanna was married to Slayton Shiflett 21 Dec 1818, and Pascal Morris on 17 Oct 1826. Story is that his father was Slayton Shiflett. However have found nothing tying the two. Believe children of Slayton Shiflett and Susanna Morris were Jackson, William Jefferson, Charles Lewis, and Lafayette. Believe children of Pascal Morris and Susanna Morris were Luthena (Luthany) Millie, William Henry, and William Plunkett. I have 12 children for William Jefferson Morris and Luraney Shiflett. Any information would be appreciated.
