Here are two books from the list on the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society. I don't see one that sounds like the one mentioned below. However, maybe if you check with them, they will have it. There are two books of cemetery transcriptions: one for those cemeteries east of U.S. Route 11 and one for those west of Route 11. You need the one for western Rockingham. I believe it was a DAR typescript, which is only found in a few locations, one of which is the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society in Dayton, Virginia. They may look up a specific person/cemetery for you, but I'm not sure what their policies are...worth a call, though. Does anyone know if there is a list of people buried in the Singer's Glen Cemetery in Rockingham County and how I can get that information.
Thanks to all of you wonderful people who answered my query on Freidan's Church. I have another request: Where in Rockingham Co. is Smith's Creek and Song Meadow adjoining the land of Circle, Moore, etc. --Mar. 1792 210 acres to George Springer. Any info regarding this land will be most appreciated. Evelyn Springer Smith
Can someone tell me where Freidan's Church is or was located in Rockingham Co., or any other place, back in the l780-1800's? Thanks, Evelyn Springer Smith Searching any Springer leads in Rockingham and Augusta Co., VA
Does anyone have any information on any Hessian Soldiers who may have deserted and settled in the Shenandoah region of VA? I am looking for a soldier by the surname Wilhelm or Williams. Thanks for any help-I have so little to go on. Phyllis

Hello. I'm new at this so please bear with me. I am looking for a place called Rock Camp as well as a cemetary called Crawford Cemetary. I know that my Crawford ancestors orginated in Rockingham, so I only assume that both Rock Camp and the Crawford Cemetary are there in Rockingham. Could someone please direct me in the right direction? Thank you Diane Roy

> Hi Diane, Don't know if I can help you much, but I too am trying to find out more about the Crawfords of Rockingham and Augusta Co., VA. I believe that one of my ancestors was a Martha CRAWFORD who was married to Andrew STULL (or STEELE) in Augusta Co., VA, in 1798. Their marriage record indicates that her father was named WILLIAM Crawford. Andrew STULL and several STEELE's apparently moved from VA., to Jessamine Co., KY., sometime after 1800, as they are listed there on the 1810 census, and then later it appears as if the moved to the southern Indiana area in Harrison & Crawford Co., IN. There was a William CRAWFORD listed on the 1830 census of CRAWFORD Co., IN., who lived only one household away from my direct ancestor, Nelson LASLEY. Nelson's first wife is believed to have been Elizabeth Stull, a daughter of the above mentioned Andrew Stull and Martha Crawford. If you or anyone else on this list server has any additional information on ANY of these lines, I'd appreciate hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Would anyone know where I would get a photostat copy of an early marriage record? In 1793 there was a marriage between Mary Beaver and Michael Fred or Fudin. Matthias Beaver was the bondsman. I like a try at deciphering this record. Marc
