    1. Rockingham County Pollard's and Smith's
    2. pollard
    3. Good Day: Seeking genealogical and historical information on the Pollard's of Shelby County, Kentucky circa 1800-1855. I am especially interested in the family of George Tompkins Pollard and connecting surnames which may be "Irish" or "Scottish" or "French" in origin. George Tompkins Pollard and his brother (-s) were some of the oldest settler's living in Old Walla Walla County (Washington, USA). And, the Pollard surname was clearly identified with the "Inland Empire" in several old historical publications. According to my data, George was born in Linn County, Missouri, on June 15, 1835. He was the son of Roger B. and Sarah C. (Smith) Pollard. Roger Pollard's father was a native of Richmond, Virginia. And, his mother was born in Rockingham County, Virginia. Roger and Sarah Pollard were married in Shelby County, Kentucky. And, in 1820, they moved to Linn County, Missouri; where they lived for over 20 years. Later, they moved to the Platte Purchase, Missouri and settled near St. Joseph, Missouri; where they are buried. in 1851, he left home at the age of 16; and crossed the plains with an "ox team" to California. By July of 1855, at the age of 19, George is said to have made his way "northward into Oregon Territory" to visit a brother (-s) who were already living in Old Walla Walla County. I am very interested in corresponding with anyone who may have any information that connects their Pollard's or other surnames with George and his elusive brothers. Presently, I am seeking information on Roger B. and Sarah C. (Smith) Pollard and George's elusive brothers. Thanks in advance for any information or leads. 1. [VAROCKIN] Crawfords of Rockingham County
    2. Michael Law, Sr
    3. Hi all! I sent this on the Crawford List and I thought I'd send it on the Rockingham County list in hopes someone would connect. My Grandfather was Cleveland Crawford (b. March 1885). I find no record of who his father was. He is found in the 1900 Census living with his grandfather - Samuel Crawford (b. Apr 1837), his brother Garfield (b. Mar 1883), sister Manda F. (b. Mar 1891), and Samuel's daughter (maybe Aunt, maybe mother - I don't think so though) - Jaine (b. May 1860). >From a marriage certificate Cleveland marries Nellie Knight on July 24, 1910 in Rockingham Co., VA. His brother Garfield Crawford marries Hattie M. Dove on December 20, 1909. and His sister Manda Fannie Crawford marries a Jacob Hoover on in 1906. In the 1910 Rockingham Co., VA Census Garfield is listed as Garfield Crofford living with his wife Hattie M. no children. In 1910 Cleveland Crawford is living with sister Fannie (Manda) and brother-in-law Jacob Hoover. Per World War I Registration Card the following information is contained on the card: Cleave Crawford Address: 8 Mt. Clinton, Rock., VA Age: 33 DOB: 15 Mar 1885 Ht: Medium Build: Medium Color Eyes: Blue Color Hair: Brown Per Marriage Certificate: Date of Marriage: 24 July 1910 Place of Marriage: Rockingham Co., VA Age of Husband: 25 Age of Wife: 16 Husband Parents: _____ and Nangus WIfe's Parents: A.J. and Delia Knight I am looking for any information on who might be Cleveland parent's were. It appears that his mother's name was Nangus....although, the clerk may have misread the name...and it appears that either the father's name was not present or illegible? If anyone has a other information...I would appreciate it. Thanks Mike Law ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
