Does anyone have info about Simeon Fry or his wife Mary Smith. They were married in 1810 in Rockingham Co., VA. Mary was dau. of Peter Smith. Thanks, Marc
Is anyone researching the family of Peter and Anna Maria Schmidt/Smith? They lived above Timberville in 1792, and were sponsors at Rader Church in 1792 of Anna Maria, dau. of Peter and Anna Evy. Thanks, Marc
Is anyone researching the Stolp/Stolph family of near Timberville that was there in 1792 as listed in Strickler's 1792 Tithables? There was one household with John, Sr., Peter, and John, Jr. listed, and then there was Peter Smith/Schmidt, then Henry Stolph, then Peter Evy. Mention was made of an old house seen in 1890, and identified as the old Stolp house. Was this the homestead in 1792. It is where the Southern Railroad crosses the river above Timberville. Thanks, Marc

From: Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society P.O.Box 716 Dayton, VA 22821 Dear Armentrout Family Member, Soon you may be able to purchase a copy of the late Russell S. Armentrouts classic The Armentrout Family from 1739 to 1978. This large history of the Armentrout family has been out of print for many years. It documents the history of the Armentrout/Ermentraudt family from their arrival in America in 1739 until 1978. Widow Anna Elizabeth Armentrout/Ermentraudt and her 7 children first settled in Lancaster County, PA. The mother and 5 sons moved to Rockingham County in 1752 where the family was a moving force in the building of the second Peaked Mountain Church in 1769. Later the 6th son moved to the Valley. Mr. Armentrouts 800+ page book gives details about the 7 children of Anna Elizabeth Armentrout. It is much more than a listing of birth and death dates. As much as possible he wrote a brief history of each family. There are copies of original documents as well as about 220 photographs, some dating back to the 1860s. The Society will include an appendix of corrections that are received before July 30, 2000. How can you help make this reprint happen? ? First, let us know how many copies you and your family will want. The reprint will be hardcover, using quality acid-free paper. The photos will be re-done, not merely photocopied. The books will cost $60 to 80 each, depending on how many are printed. ? Second, send us any corrections and omissions (such as children who were left out) of the original book before July 30th . The Society is not updating the book to include additional generations; well leave that to the Armentrout family researchers. But we will include an appendix of corrections. ? Third, donations to the book fund will help move the book to the printers sooner. This is a very large financial commitment for the Historical Society, and at the moment there are not enough funds to cover the book. Donations are tax-deductible. Please let us know by June 15 how many copies your family will want and if you can make a donation. Armentrout Project HRHS P.O. Box 716 Dayton, VA 22821 Or email the Historical Society at: Heritag1@shentel.net. Or contact me at: pritchie@mnsinc.com. We look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Pat Turner Ritchie Publication Committee Chair

Donna, If you are referring to the grant records listed at the University of VA website, I have not found any spouse names in those that I have downloaded. However, since it costs nothing to download the document, from the website, you have nothing to lose by obtaining it. Hello, I have found a grant for my ancestor on page 24, Grants 50, Rockingham Cnty, 27, April 1802, David Berry. My question is this. I have found in my research two different spouses for this man. Now I am wondering if the one I was researching is my ancestor or the new name is my possible ancestor. If I get a copy of the Land Grant, is it going to list his spouse? Donna
