Posted on: Rockingham Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Rockingham/635 Surname: ------------------------- Hi Betty Wine, I'm not actively researching the Snell family at present. However I have quite some data which i received from Elna Henning in Missouri(?) in 1990. My g-grandmother was mary Snell from Rockingham Co., VA(1839-1862), she married my g-grandfather, David Elexander Fairburn(1820-1909)9 Feb 1858 in Rockingham Co. I believe your Henry was the 7th of 11 children born to John Jacob Snell(1760-18230 and Maria Snavely(1778-1826). These records go back to John Nicholas Schnell b.1690 in what is now Germany. Sending e-mail.

I have noticed that there are a bunch of us that have Shifflets (various spellings) in our backgrounds. I am descended from Thomas Shifflet and Elizabeth Lamb. They were married in 1790. Can anybody else go back to these two or who do you descend from. I would be very interested in finding out. Mine went to Kentucky and then on to Illinois before spreading out farther. Cheri Salz
