Looking for descendants of Alexander McCauley (many possible spellings). [Alexander had to have been born before 1755 and lived at least until 1797. Lifespan could be several years both directions.] I believe that Alexander's daughter, Jane, married Henry Deck in 1797 in Rockingham County. I'd like to know more. Anybody out there? Thanks! I am trying to find out where I might obtain a copy of the 1870 Pendleton County Mortality List without going to Franklin. Does anyone know if there is a copy online or at a local library? Thanks, Bonnie Miller

I have gotten some "hand-me-down" notes that 2 of my gr-gr grandfather's sisters died at Western State Hospital. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5BC.2ACI/1538.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: The cemetary behind the Wood's house has the graves of John Lawson and Eva Harnist, who are my gggg grandparents, and their descendants who married Shiffletts. There are a lot of graves in the woods, across the creek from a huge old barn that sits by itself. It is my understanding that people were brought to this one area in particular from over Simmons Gap and the Rocky Bar area. Some of the tombstones are as recent as 1926. It is not tended, and some of the headstones are almost completely covered over with brush. I think in order to find it, you would need someone who lives in Beldor Hollow or knows the area to take you to it. There is also a cemetary up the hill behind the last house on the left at the end of the hollow. I believe it is also a family cemetary, but i don't have any names for it. It is believed the home once belonged to George Herring.
