Based on their ages and the ages of their children on the 1850 census in Augusta County, they probably married in the very late 1830s or early 1840s. They were not married in Augusta County; at least it is not in the marriage book. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim Messersmith Rockville, VA

    3. I haven't found it either in the abbreviated version of the marriage records that I have. As I understand it, Rockingham County Guardian Bonds lists bonds on February 17, 1834, for three of Joseph Sellers' children: William, Addison, and Margaret. Henry Conrad named as guardian and bondsman was Charles L. Yancey. With that in mind, I'm now beginning to wonder if Margaret's marriage was as a Marriage Bond and for some reason is not in Vogt & Kethley's transcribed marriages. I've run into that scenario quite a few times now in Augusta County, ie, Marriage Bonds being located that were not transcribed in published Marriage Records, and wonder now if that's the case with Margaret and her marriage to James/Joseph Runkle. If anyone has any idea(s) about how to now go about finding this marriage, please let me know. In any case, Jan, I greatly appreciate your time and the lookup attempt. This list came from Jacob's family Bible. There's no indication of another child. After the family had moved to Preble Co., they joined the German Baptist Brethren Church . I know that there are Old German Baptist Brethren/Churches of the Brethren in Rockingham County but I have no idea if they attended any of these churches in VA. I don't know for sure when they moved north but my grgrandfather (another Jacob) was born in 1864 in Preble Co., to Josepth and Rebecca Wehrley Shaeffer. The name Shaeffer is spelled so many ways that it is hard to find the correct family. Thank you for your diary. I wish that my family had written something down but I haven't found anyone in the family that knows about a written story. Only a distant cousin remembers that some of the family have told that during the Civil War there was fighting on their farmland. They packed up and left and two of the sons were not at home. When the sons arrived home and found that the others were gone, they followed and caught up with them. Evidently there had been discussion beforehand or the young men would not have known where to go. We may still find a connection somewhere. In some of the information that I have seen, there are many Jacob's. That name must have been very popular. 3. I'd like to request a marriage lookup for the marriage of Margaret Sellers to James/Joseph Runkle. The limited info I have is that it may have been dated January 10, 1840, and I'm trying to confirm it. Would like to know what info was included in the record, if indeed it is listed/found. I believe Margaret possibly was the daughter of Joseph Sellers and Catherine Moyers and am attempting to find any info whatsoever that will confirm or deny this. I believe that Margaret's 1st husband, Joseph Runkle, was the son of Jacob Runkle and Elizabeth Fye and that Joseph may have died between 1845 and 1847. Margaret then (possibly) remarried to Silas B. Hitt about July 8, 1855. If anyone has access to post-1850 marriage records and could look this one up as well, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for the lookup and your patience with my rambling. Michael Sellers
