Michael - Try Ancestry.com for column headings - you can print out a blank page with the columns.? Or, there are some free census sites that will also have the headings. Michael et al: The letters A and B were assigned to the various lists when the lists (books) were microfilmed. The letter for a particular geographic region of the county was subject to change from year to year; therefore, you can't be assured that the "A" book for two consecutive years represented the same portion of the county. Excellent info to know in terms of the divide in location. That actually does help a great deal and explains quite a bit in terms of what I'm seeing with my listed ancestors. Okay - I didn't notice this the last time I was on this site http://sos.ky.gov/land/nonmilitary/wills/ - but on the Kentucky Land office site - they also have a few wills. I'm assuming these were filed with some of the land warrants. There are also un-claimed warrants, but I can't find where that was listed. Here are the wills Armstrong, samuel Barbee, thomas Barnett, james Berryman, john Bowls, benjamin Brooke, george Brown, Alexander Bulger, edward Byrd, Co. I am trying to correctly identify the parents, at least the father, of Barbara FUDGE. Barbara married Jacob ZELLER on October 6, 1794, and soon after they removed to Lincoln County, Georgia. The marriage record for Barbara Fudge and Jacob Zeller, of which I now have a copy, clearly states that Barbara was the daughter of "John Fudge", and John Fudge himself signed the marriage bond while providing "fifty pounds" surety for the marriage. However, I cannot figure out which "John Fudge" he was. It has been considered that Barbara was possibly the daughter of John Fudge, aka John Peter Fudge, and Catherine Maggert of Rockingham County, VA. However, John Fudge's will, written in 1782, clearly states that his four children were John Fudge, Conrad Fudge, David Fudge, and Elizabeth Miller. And, since John Peter Fudge died in 1784, it's a little more than impossible for him to have signed the marriage bond for Barbara some 10 years after his death. It has also been considered that Barbara was possibly the daughter of John Fudge, Sr., the aforementioned son of John Peter Fudge and Catherine Maggert. John Fudge, Sr. did have a daughter named "Barbara", however, that "Barbara Fudge" married Archibald Toole in Augusta County on or about November 9, 1791. Furthermore, John Fudge, Sr.'s will, written in December 1812 and proved in Washington County, VA, on May 19, 1818, specifically lists his children as Adam Fudge, Conrad Fudge, John Fudge, Jr., Elizabeth Miller, Jacob Fudge, and BARBARA TOOL (Toole). Thus, the Barbara Fudge, daughter of "John Fudge", who married Archibald Toole and removed to Washington County, VA, is not the same Barbara Fudge who married Jacob Zeller in 1794 and removed to Lincoln County, GA. Hence, I've run out of "John Fudges" to tie to Barbara (Fudge) Zeller as possibly being her father. John Peter Fudge died in Rockingham County in 1784. His son, John Fudge, Sr., was in Augusta County until about 1800 prior to migrating to Washington County, VA, where he died in 1818. Since Barbara (Fudge) Zeller married in Augusta County, it would seem that she is somehow tied to John Fudge, Sr., however, I can find no other information that gives any clues as to the identity of her father other than his name being "John Fudge". Were there additional "John Fudge"s in either Rockingham or Augusta County that I'm not accounting for and giving a whirl as possibly being Barbara's father? I anyone has any ideas and/or additional information I'd certainly love to hear from you!
