Notebook: "In April 1779, Major Paxton was granted the license to operate an "ordinary", or tavern, a wayside inn... (his home)on the road between ... the village of Lexington and the Natural Bridge...." I'm searching for any information about this house/inn, owned by Maj. Wm Paxton and his wife, Eleanor Hays Paxton. Does anyone know more precisely where it was located, or what happened to it? Did Wm. leave it by will to his children? Was it sold? Still standing ca 1937 when the inventory of historical places in VA was taken by WPA workers? Any clue or information much appreciated. Eager to share and/or work with serious researchers in joint projects. Joanne
