    3. There are three libraries that have genealogy collections in Rockbridge. The Rockbridge Regional Library on Main Street has a good collection including family histories and all the newspapers on microfilm going back to the early 1800s. The Rockbridge Historical Society (located on Washington Street across from the Visitors Center) has some main reference books, copies of their historical journal and publications and copies of the published births, deaths, and marriage collections. They also have several good maps, including the original settlers of the Borden Grant and an 1870 engineering map of the County which includes the names of households and their locations. However, the vast part of their collection is housed in Leyburn Library Special Collections at Washington and Lee University. This include the Diehl Collection, a local genealogist and historian which is a collection of all his notes on the families he researched.
