I'm sending this to the list as it pertains to all researchers. All chancery records for Rockbridge County are in the Library of Virginia. They are NOT in the Rockbridge County courthouse. The courthouse does have an index where you can look up surnames in chancery cases. The records were sent to LVA to be microfilmed however, funding for microfilming has been cut back. The have been sitting there for several years. You can request a record from LVA but be warned that xeroxing is 50 cents a page and all the records I looked at included 10 - 20 handwritten documents from the 1860s. By the way, Samuel Wilson and Mary Mackey's daughter, Polly, married into my Davis line in Rockbridge County. Would like to share information. I am trying to find in particular information on a lawsuit between Samuel Wilson McCormick and his father Henry McCormick in about 1865. It must have been a doozy. Samuel Wilson and his brother William Henry both relocated in Texas by 1880. Other surnames. His mother, wife of Henry was Jane Willson, daugther of Samuel Willson and Mary Mackey. All of these folks are in Rodkbridge cty. > > ______________________________
