    1. Re: JOHN DAVIDSON 1757-1835
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Thompson, Thomson, Davidson, Davison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4BC.2ACI/1756.2.1 Message Board Post: As a follow-up/correction to my previous post, there were TWO SETS of John Davidsons (maybe unrelated), who each had sons also named John Davidson, in the Augusta/Rockbridge County, VA area. There seems to be confusion between these two families. One of the two older Johns married an Elizabeth and the other older John seems to have married a Sarah. One of the older Johns seems to have been the son of Robert Davidson (and brother to an Ann and a Mary) and the other older John was not. One of the younger Johns apparently married a Mary Thompson. I don't know who the other younger John married. One family lived near Mill Creek and the other family lived near Colliers Creek. The older John on Mill Creek was not styled as "Senior" (since his son was only 4 when he died), but the older John on Colliers Creek was styled as "Senior." One of the older Johns died in 1762 and the other older John died in 1798. One of the younger Johns was born in 1757 and the other younger Joh! n seems to have been born by at least 1740. All of these Johns seem to be in addition to/separate from other well-known John Davidsons such as: "Importation" John and his wife Jane, John Goolman Davidson and/or "One Eye" John Davidson. They are also in addition to/separate from the John Davison (and his wife Ann Sons) of Spotsylvania/Orange/Amelia/Prince Edward County, VA. It is not clear to me that the two sets of John Davidsons discussed above have been properly separated and defined in all cases. In some cases, it seems that the two sons John have been linked to the wrong fathers John. Is it clear which of these two families had the son John who married Mary Thompson? Do we know who the OTHER younger John married? My main goal is trying to determine if Mary Thompson was a relative of Reverend John Thomson, and if the John Davidson whom she married had any dealings with William Davidson and Martha (Baker) Davidson of my family. Thanks!

    3. I have an ancestor named Agnes DAVIDSON, b. abt. 1750, m. John VEST in Campbell (?) CoVA. Any DAVIDSON researchers know of her? One researcher says her father was Edward. All help appreciated.
