    3. Hello, Bill in Oregon, Regarding Entsinger ... Under the name Ensminger (and Entsinger is a known variation, although there seems to have be a separate family named Entsinger), I find both a Susanna Ensminger, born about 1762 and married to "unknown Miller", and a sister Catherine, born about 1768, who married one Henry Platt, 1791, Rockbridge County, VA. They are daughters of Hans Philip Ensminger and Catherine Margaret Kessinger; Phillip Ensminger died in Monroe County, WV, 1807. Looks close enough to be a possible match. I can't help with the Miller problem at this point, my Millers being of NJ vintage in the late 1700's. But if you are searching Entsinger/Ensminger, I may be able to help. Cordially, Bryce Stevens Lost in East Tennessee : This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. : : Surnames: Mailman,Mealman, Millman, Entsinger, Miller : Classification: Query : : Message Board URL: : : http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4BC.2ACI/2119 : : Message Board Post: : : Catherine Entsinger is apparently the sister of Susannah Entsinger who married Valentine Miller. I believe the Millers had a daughter Barbara who married my ancestor Andrew Mailman, or Millman or Mealman, circa 1786. : : Andrew lived in Pendleton when he acquired 125 acres from the Millers who were of Rockridge Co in 1792. The Millers in 1804 move then to Monroe Co WV and my Andrew has moved to Greenbriar Co by 1797 which could be the same area since Monroe is created in 1799 from Greenbriar. : : Can you help out in verifying Barbara's maiden name as Miller? : : : Bill in Oregon : : : ==== VAROCKBR Mailing List ==== : The Rockbridge County Genealogical Society has cemetery books for : sale. 3. Bill, Have you ever seen the history of The Ensmingers or Alsace and Pennylvania by Raymond Bell? I found the book in the Rockbridge County Library and I found it to be interesting. I am trying to establish if I am a descendent of Henry Plott (Platt) and Catherine Entsminger or Henry Plott and Phoebe Miller (Susannah's daughter). Please let me know if you are interested in any of my information.
