To all in Rockbridge Co., Va. Today is the day we celebrate in Texas. It is "Texas Indemendence Day" as well as Sam Houston's birthday. We celebrate this day in addition to "Alamo Day". Because of my family line, this gives me a very special warm place in my heart for Rockbridge Co. My Reed/Reid ancestors were from Rockbridge and I believe Michael Reid, my gggg grandfather, lived not too far from the Houston family in the very late 1700's. Land records seem to indicate that location, and they probably knew eachother. My direct line Reed family lived in Rockbridge for about 100 years before they left for Texas. I have always enjoyed returning to Rockbridge for visits to the location of the roots of my family.
