Sam, We may be related. I have traced my GILMORE family back to my great-grandparents, Andrew Jackson GILMORE (1830-1895) & wife Mary Ann GILBERT (1834-1904) of Rockbridge Co, VA. Cant' find Andrew's parents yet.....but they may be your Robert GILMORE & Margaret BRADLEY. There are several clues that I have about your Robert GILMORE which indicate he may be my Andrew Jackson GILMORE's father. One is that Andrew's oldest daughter was named Margaret & his oldest son was named Robert Lee GILMORE (my grandfather). Write to me for more details. Do you know who Robert GILMORE & Margaret BRADLEY's children were? I found the Robert GILMORE you mentioned in the Rockbridge Co VA Death Register 1853-1870 death index.
