I'm forwarding this for Patricia Maxey. ----- Original Message ----- From: Patricia Maxey To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2004 9:13 PM Subject: Ms. Headley I am trying to get in contact with Ms. Headley. I read several of her postings and I believe she has information that could help me in search for my family "LEECH". Information I received from her postings, she has researched the Rockbridge County for sometime. I am hitting a big brick wall with my grandfather. My GM was Katie Pearl Leech, born 11/23/1890 and died 2/18/1967. I was told her maiden name was Leech and she married a Leech. John Harvey Leech and Sarah A. Barger were her parents. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. If you have a contact e-mail, phone number or address for Ms. Headley I would grateful. Thank you Patricia Leech Maxey P. O. This is the latest communication from Rootsweb. dns: 2004-01-27 Today, RootsWeb has undergone significant modifications to its domain name lookup and IP addresses, and from our perspective this looks to have happened without incident. However, there may be consequences external to RootsWeb's network. IP addresses are the underlying methodology that computers use to identify and talk to each other on the internet. While most ISPs will only store (cache) RootsWeb's IP addresses for short periods, some ISPs may retain our old details for an extended period. If you are having difficulties reaching RootsWeb sites (however, you probably won't see this page), the first recommendation is to wait an hour or two and then try again. If the period has extended to about a day, you may wish to ask your ISP to flush their DNS cache and see if that helps. If your ISP needs to contact us, they are welcome to contact us via the <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help.cgi>HelpDesk web form. With regard to e-mail, it is also possible that e-mail to and from RootsWeb may be delayed until the changes have spread (propagated) through the internet. Also, where RootsWeb has had some of our mailing list servers placed on a <http://searchcio.techtarget.com/gDefinition/0,294236,sid19_gci896131,00.htm l>whitelist with ISPs, these arrangements may need to be renewed, with the consequence being that we may not be able to deliver e-mail to all ISPs at this time. Definition: IP Address - Every computer connected to the Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Est. downtime: 1 week(s) ---------- Infected e-mail abounds: 2004-01-27 RootsWeb is seeing a lot of infected email 'doing the rounds', and especially cases of the worm W32/[email protected] [McAfee] aka WORM_MIMAIL.R [Trend] aka [email protected] [Symantec]. As a reminder, RootsWeb's mailing lists do NOT and CANNOT transmit infected e-mail as we forward text e-mail only and no binary attachments, though it is possible for the email addresses of mailing lists to be faked. For more information and links to sites that provide virus information, please see our page <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/virus.html>Virus, Trojans, Worms. Our apologies for any inconvenience. We are trying to find a better resolution with RoadRunner. Sometime yesterday AOL decided to block (as spammers) all msgs from Rootsweb list5 email lists. As a result we have AOL and CS.COM members on our list who did not receive some very important msgs. To catch up on the msgs you missed, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Since there are hundreds of other email lists on the list5 server, you AOLers have likely missed msgs from other lists you are subscribed to. This is the site where you can check msgs from each of your lists. If anyoune has friends on these lists, who have AOL..
