With more and more court records, etc. becoming available, maybe someday we'll be able to figure it all out. Keep in touch, please, and I'll do the same. I have you in a list of Gilmore researchers. Do you have specific info you'd like to see included on my Gilmore website? I'd be happy to add it --credit to you, of course-- just let me know info + any sources to inlcude. Joanne

She married Samuel Davidson in 1779 (DAR #655876 of Sallie Teaford McKEmy, descendant of Samuel Davidson, 2nd Lt in VA Militia). Their daughter Ann Davidson, dau of Samuel Davidson dec'd married Robert Kirkpatrick on 5 Feb 1799. The licence showed the bondsman as James Gilmore and I thought this might be her grandfather, but now I see that James Gilmore is more likely Ann's uncle-the brother of her mother Elizabeth Gilmore Davidson. Do you have any ideas on how I might tie this up with some real proof instead of speculation since John Gilmore only mentions his "5 daughters" in his will? Thanks for your help. Debbie

The surety on their bond of marriage listed Lane Jones ...which I'm supposing (I need proof) is Permelia's father. By 1830, a couple of Lane Jones show up in Rockbridge County. Virginia has a history of Lane/Lain/Laine Jones in Colonial Virginia in the early 1700's but I can't tie them to this Lane Jones or to Permelia Jones. Please contact me if you can connect Sally and Permelia! Thanks

    3. Joanne I would like to learn more, especially about the Beatty/Beattie connection. My wife is a Beatie of the John Beattie/Eleanor Gilmore line. I'm trying to track the Gilmores, Cunninghams and other closely associated families to determine John Beattie's origin, parents, siblings, etc. Can you put me on to the proof that John did not have a daughter Martha. I know Martha is not listed on his will. Do you know anything about the Gilmore's immigration, where they arrived, when did the get to Rockbridge Co, etc.? Have you seen the original wedding bonds and consent notices in the Rockbridge Co.? Here is one Isabella Gilmore/James Lecky. It will get you to the URL. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/va/rockbridge/images/1782/1782-028.jpg Contact me direct so we can discuss further and share our info. 3. I am searching for info on these two and trying to tie them in as children of John Benson and Lucinda Hite of Rockbridge Co., VA. William Benson m. Wilhelmina Scott 4/4/1839 in Rockbridge Co. On the 1850 Census for Rockbridge they are listed with 3 children Elizabeth A., Delila J., and Sarah M. By 1860 Census, William is living in Lawrence Co. OH with these 3 children plus George T. and William M. He remarried Nancy J. McDaniel (b. WVA) on 9/25/1860 in Lawrence Co., OH. They are listed in the 1870 census with William M., Marinda?, Leona?, and Charles. Then again in 1880 with these 4 plus James, Elizabeth, and Richard. Archibald Benson m.Elizabeth Scott 1/31/1839 in Rockbridge Co., VA. 1850 Census for Rockbridge lists them with 3 children, Phebe A., John W., and Sarah J. 1860 they are still in Rockbridge with these 3 plus Archibald Baily, and William Benson. 1870 Census for Lawrence Co., OH has them listed with Sarah J., Archibald B., and William. 1880 Census for same county shows Elizabeth Scott widowed and living alone. The next family listed is William Benson and Nancy McDaniel. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? If so, I would love to hear from you. I would love to get my hands on the death info for Archibald & William in hopes of finding an obit. Donna
