    3. Brenda, I am also researching my Vest lineage, MAYBE you can assist me. Here is what I have for info, starting with the first generation. All of the info I am giving you is sourced and documented, if I am NOT sure of an item, I state so in (). On all of the Vest persons, I am working backwards from a later descendent to TRY and establish the PROBABLE years of birth. John Vest born circa 1750-1770 (I only have the document he wrote to establish his son's marriage in 1823.) I have absolutely no other info for him. I do not know if he was actually present in Amherst county at the time of his son, William's marriage, or if the note was sent with one of the parties that were present., it is attached as a separate item to the marriage record, which leads me to believe he was not actually present at the wedding. William G. Vest born circa 1795-1805 (I base this on the fact that a note was sent to establish his age as legal, he either looked young still or was just barely of age in 1823. On 7 Mar 1823 he married Mary 'Polly' Byas/Bias (daughter of Joel & Elizabeth (Harrison) Bias of Amherst Co, VA. William G Vest and Mary had at least 2 daughters, Cassandra born 4 Jul 1828 (married Henry Byas/Bias, and Elizabeth Vest born abt 1825 (married Mansfield Noel), Matilda Vest MAY have been a twin sister of Elizabeth Vest (?) William G Vest was either dead or had moved from the area of Amherst Co, VA by 1850, At the time of the 1850 Census Mary 'Polly' (Byas/Bias) Vest was living with her daughter Elizabeth. 2 doors away were Henry Bias and Cassandra (Vest) Byas/Bias. Of interest, to a tie for this family in Rockbridge Co, VA at this same timeframe. Phoebe Bias Bryant (widow) & the sister of Mary "Polly" (Bias) Vest was married to James Rowsey of Rockbridge Co, VA. Is it possible that William Vest & Mary Polly Bias may have met when she was visiting her older married sister, Phoebe Rowsey??? Anyway, that is all I know...do you have any thoughts on my Vest Family Branch???? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McDaniel / Murphey(?) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4BC.2ACI/2110 Message Board Post: Hello, My name is Rosalie Adkins. I reside in Hartford City,Indiana. I'd like to locate the Marriage Record for my Gr.Grandparents, James Floyd McDaniel & Louisa/Lyde (Murphey)?/McDaniel. James Floyd McDaniel was born May 1,1853 in Rockbridge County,Virginia. He is the son of Samuel & Mary Ann (Wilkinson)McDaniel. Louisa/Lyde (Murphy/Murphey/Phillips) McDaniel was born May 2nd or 3rd,1863 in Upshur County,W.Virginia, The reason I put the possible maiden names for Louisa or Lydia is because I have found her on family records under all 4 names, therefore I'm not positive on what her actual maiden name was. James Floyd McDaniel is on the 1870 Census, still in Rockbridge County,Virginia, but in January/1884,James Floyd & Louisa McDaniel are residing in Henry County(Blue River Township- I think),Indiana. The first 2 children(twins) of this family were born on January 23,1884 in Henry County,Indiana. The twins were pre-mature and died the same day. Therefore, sometime between 1870 & 1884,is the possible marriage years for James & Louisa or Lydia,I've found her under both first names on family records also. I just haven't been able to locate their Marriage Record/Location. It could be anywhere from Upshur County,W.Virginia,Rockbridge County,W.Virginia, through Ohio to the eastern counties of Indiana, until they ended up in Henry County,Indiana in January of 1884. I know this could prove to be a huge search in trying to locate James & Louisa's marriage record, but if anyone could possibly locate it,I'd be forever greatful. If it could be found,I'd like to get a copy of it. James & Louisa/Lyde McDaniel are both buried in the Beechgrove Cemetery in Muncie,Indiana. I've been to their gravesites. I know these people to be my Gr. Grandparents & Gr. Gr. Grandparents,I have traced them through family records here in Indiana. Samuel McDaniel & Mary Ann Wilkinson were married in Rockbridge County,Virginia on August 29,1838. My contact info is as follows: Rosalie Adkins 1301 N. Cherry Hartford City,Indiana 47348 Phone: 1 - 765 - 348- 4226 E-mail: [email protected] Thanks to anyone who could try to help to find this marriage record !! Sincerely Rosie
