The 1880 census is at ancestry.com it is a free search. The 1890 census was burned but the 1900 you can get at ancestry.com or through the LDS church. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 25, 2004 2:17 PM Subject: [VAROCKBR] State census > Does anyone know if there exists a state census for the time period 1880 to 1900? > Any information would be very much appreciated > > Thanks > Faye > > > ==== VAROCKBR Mailing List ==== > The Rockbridge County Genealogical Society has cemetery books for > sale. I have some very old pictures that I believe were taken of her family in Rockbridge when she was a child, around 1915-1920. Her father was Vreeland Hayslette and she had 2/3 brothers. Her mother was a "Guffey" I believe. The name "Mutterspaw" has also been linked to our family. On the back of one of the pictures is the name "Guffey". Can anyone help me? Thank you. Gloria

If you know how to get in touch with that group of reinactors who held the ceremony, please contact me. I'd like to talk to them about what they know about my g-g-grandfather, Andrew Jackson Gilmore who is buried there, fought in the Civil War, and was honored by this group. Thanks! It's main focus is to compare the DNA of WV an VA lines and possibly with older lines of Immigrant ancestors. DNA tests until now had certain limiations but a new test is just coming out which increases the ability of the test to differnetiate in a time period when most of us know our lins back 150 years. I can obtain a reduced price for a short period of time perhaps just this week or next or end of month. Direct line Swisher/Switzer males are the only ones who can provide samples. Others who are interested can help by possibly providing donations to cover costs of tests. If anyone is itnerestd in assisting in co-ordinating testing of their direct line or supporting the project to being tested please contact me. General questions about how DNA works can be easily found on the itnerenet with the companies that provide the service.
