    3. There is considerable information on the family of Rev. James SCOTT (d. 1782, Prince William County, Va.) and his wife Sarah BROWN (1715-1784) in the book Virginia Genealogies, by Horace Edwin Hayden (Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 1891). The Browns are on pp. 145-200. The Scotts are on pp. 585-668. The couple had nine children, seven of whom produced grandchildren. Some of the lines are traced into the late 19th century.
