Dear Maggie >With the reply from by Ann and Amber to Lynn Simpsons query on Zephaniah Brawner can I assume that Zephaniah is the brother of John Brawner born around 1778 and married to Lucinda Cockrell ,father to Frederick, William and Joyce Ann (my gggrandmother)? According to a copy of the death notice of Joyce Ann in 1887 she was born in the Manassas area. I would really appreciate it if someone could verify this. If only it were that easy. It has taken me roughly 2 years to get a reply from anyone on PWC, ChasCoMD lists about Zephaniah. All we have are possible names. However now we have them, there is a lot more work to do. The reason I am interested is that I have Haislips in my line. The Haislip Cemetery is actually on Zephaniah Brawner's land. Two of his daughters married Haislips, sons of Samuel Haislip who was living next to my John Thomas Brawner in 1850. John Thomas's daughter was called Annie Haislip Brawner. I am now trying to find out who the parents of John C Brawner were who married Jane Clark in Westmoreland Co in 1827. The marriage date is quite definite. You would think that somewhere there would be a church record of the marriage which identifies both their fathers ... but that seems to be almost impossible to find.
