There is the book "Genealogical Abstracts from 18th Century Virginia Newspapers" by Robert K. Headley, Jr. published by the Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. Baltimore Md. 1987. His introduction, in part: The data abstracted herein have been collected from over 7,100 issues of eighty-one 18th centry Virginia newpapers. This has involved the scanning of original papers or microfilms of them in all of the major repositories of 18th century Virginia newpapers....... In the Acknowledgments he mentions the help of the Libray of Congress, the Virginia State Library, the Virginia Historical Society, the Prince George's County (Maryland) Library System, University of Maryland, Fredericksburg Virginia Public Library, College of William and Mary (Swem Library) , Houghton Library, Harvard University, American Antiquarian Society.
