    3. Dear Listers I am interested in finding out about the family who lived at Brawner's Farm. Capt. John C Brawner and Jane Clark lived at Brawner's Farm as tenant farmers and raised their family there. What was John C Brawner's full name? Who were his parents? 1. JOHN C1 BRAWNER1 was born 1798 in Maryland, and died Aft. 1870. He married JANE Bef. 1826 in Virginia. She was born Abt. 1800 in Virginia. Notes for JOHN C BRAWNER: In 1850, Captain John C Brawner was a tenant farmer living in Prince William County dwelling 241, family 241. This farm was very close to the farm of William L Brawner also a tenant farmer born in Maryland. He was 50 years old and born in Maryland. He married Jane Clark Jan. 13, 1827 in Westmoreland and was living with his daughters Mary (24), Martha C (20) (who married Charles B. Smith, 32 s/0 Phillip and Margaret on Jan 01,1857), Sarah (19) (later married Jesse Rice s/o Jesse/Thirza), Susan (13) (later married John F Heath s/o Isaac/Sarah) and sons, George (22) (later married Susan Gaines d/o Samuel/Susanna - Co. F 17th Va. Inf. CSA) John (17) (died July, 1855 (killed by cars), James (14) and Charles (10) (Co. A 4th VA Cav). In 1860, he was living in Groveton with Jane, Sarah, Charles, James and his wife Cornelia. James went to serve in the Civil War and was killed. John had personal property amounting to $980. In 1870, John was living in Gainesville Township with Jane, Mary and Charles. John is presumed to have died between 1870 and 1880, but no death record has been found. John Brawner's farm in Manassas, Virginia played a key part in the Civil War's Battle of Second Bull Run in August 1862. John leased this farm and worked as a tenant farmer. She was born 1817 in Stafford County, Va. In the 1860 Census Prince William County, George, Susan and Mary T were living with Edwin Gaines and his family in the Bristoe Station District. George was working as a store clerk. Child of GEORGE BRAWNER and SUSAN BOTT is: i. MARY T3 BRAWNER6, b. 1858, Prince William Co., Va. 3. CHARLES H2 BRAWNER (JOHN C1) was born 1840 in Prince William Co., Va. He married FANNY SHEPHERD Bef. 18727. She was born Bef. 1852. Notes for CHARLES H BRAWNER: Charles served in A Company, 4th Va Cavalry, CSA. Paroled prisoner 1864. In 1880, Charles was living in the Brentsville District with Fanny, George, Lloyd, Henry and stepchildren Virginia and William Shepherd. His sister Mary Brawner was also living with them.
