    2. Thanks for looking. I believe their first child was born in 1756, so the marriage should be before that date.

    1. [VAPWILLI-L] Elizabeth Dodson and John Bennett
    2. I am trying to find a record of the marriage of Elizabeth Dodson and John Bennett. Elizabeth Dodson, daughter of Rev. Thomas Dodson, Jr. and Elizabeth Rose was born 27 May 1732 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County. Shorthly after her birth, Thomas Dodson move to Fauquier County (Prince William County at the time). Does anyone have any information on when or where this marriage occured. Don Bennett

    2. For those of you who are interested in Cemeteries of Fairfax County, the following article was printed in the Fairfax Weekly section of the Washington Post today. CEMETERY SURVEY PUBLISHED The sixth and final volume in a series recording the gravestone inscriptions from more than 350 burial grounds in Fairfax County is now available. The Fairfax Genealogical Society spent more than 15 years compiling the work, which contains nearly 38,000 graveyard listings from more than 5,000 families. The inscriptions were taken from family burial plots and church and community graveyards across the county. Interesting epitaphs are included, but inscriptions from large commercial cemeteries are not. The effort was started by Jane Wall, a founding member of the society who in the mid-1970s set about surveying the county's small cemeteries with her young children in tow. Over the years, the society decided to publish the surveys, and the project grew to include more than 100 volunteers. The first volume of "Fairfax County, Virginia Gravestones" appeared in 1994. For information visit the society's Web site at www.fxgs.org June

    3. The Prince William County site at http://www.co.prince-william.va.us/ doesn't mention anything about marriage record searches. If you go to the marriage license site at http://www.co.prince-william.va.us/ccourt/publics.htm#marriage, it will tell you there's a list of marriage celebrants t the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. This doesn't sound too promising, but my second link below does offer considerable promise. Please let me know if this works. Here are some additional sites: Not too hopeful - Prince William County Research information http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapwcgs/pwresg.htm for doing your own research. Hopeful - seems like your best bet - Prince William County Genealogical Society Research Program http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapwcgs/pwrespgm.htm This site will do some research - minimum fee for members (I assume of the local society) is $10 and for non-members is $20. The fee is for up to two hours of research time and up to $1.00 in photocopying and postage charges. You will be billed for non-routine charges. 3. Hello all, I have a couple questions about requesting or writing for records in Prince William Co. Is there anyone on the list that has done this? I am looking for a marriage record from about 1810-1812. I have the smail address of the County Court House, 9311 Lee Ave, Manassas, VA 22110-5598. But my question is, do they have a search fee? How are they about requests? Some counties don't or won't do them and some counties have a $5-10 search fee even if you have the exact date, which I don't. How fast is the turn around time? Just wondering. Thanks for any information. Debbie Raque

John was born in the late 1700's. I believe he had also sons Frederick and William and they all lived in the Manassas area .
